Character Information
Character Name: Shiemi Moriyama
Canon: Ao no Exorcist
Canon Point: Chapter 60: Just Being With Them Makes Me Furious, Yet...
History: Written out here because it turned out to be monstrous long.
Personality:
Shiemi is a very shy person, sometimes almost cripplingly so. This is due to the fact that she spent most of her youth tucked away from people. While she has been getting better about this there are still times when she gets so worked up it causes her to be clumsy. Itâs sometimes hard for her to ask to be friends but once sheâs made up her mind about being friends, Shiemi will work hard to accomplish it and keep it. When Kamiki was trapped and attempted to tell her that they werenât friends so Shiemi would save herself, the girl said that she didnât care. She said that Kamiki was her friend no matter what and later she told Rin that they would be friends forever.
Also because of how she grew up, Shiemi is very naĂŻve. The girl is absolutely clueless about how friendships were supposed to really be and let Kamiki take advantage of her because she believed it was what friends did for each other. When others tried to point it out to her Shiemi would respond that it was okay because she wanted to do it. Not to mention there are times when sheâs just clueless about some kinds of things such as when boys might have a crush on her or when a ghost turns out to be a pervert. She also completely ignored the first sign she saw about Rin being a demon after she realized how nice he was. Sometimes people say things to her that arenât exactly nice or complimentary but Shiemi always tends to overlook it and take it the way she wants to.
When she is able to overcome her shyness Shiemi can be quite outspoken, often telling people exactly what she thinks or feels and doesnât hesitate to cry if she needs to. While she doesnât get angry with people outside of her family often it is possible for her to feel close enough to someone to raise her voice and temper. It goes along nicely with her boldness that makes her face things head-on, even when she should be scared. Thereâs not a lot she wonât confront if it means protecting people.
Despite her shyness Shiemi is a cheerful person, always trying to find a reason to smile or be happy. She manages it most of the time when things arenât happening around her and sometimes her naivety helps a lot. Shiemi is also very good natured, always trying to see the good in people even if they give her the cold-shoulder or say something mean. When Rin told someone that she wasnât his friend it had hurt because she had thought that they could be. Sheâs the type to search for something like a four-leaf clover to give for good luck and always wants to be of some help.
To go with that good nature of hers, Shiemi is also hardworking and determined. She will give up her free time in order to spend it tending to peopleâs wounds or being of some kind of use. All her life sheâs known what it means to get down and dirty for something she believes in and that is a trait thatâs carried over to her experiences in the outside world. She poured herself into her grandmotherâs garden once she was gone and then again when she saw so many people hurt. Thereâs nothing sheâs not willing to do to be of some help to the people around her. Her determination goes beyond just helping as sheâs willing to risk getting hurt to save someone she considers a friend. When it comes down to it, Shiemi wouldnât abandon someone who needs help â no matter what the circumstances.
With that itâs also important to discuss Shiemiâs loyalty and faith. While there may be times when she feels uncertain about things she will always want to be there for one of her friends. Sheâs demonstrated it with both Rin and Kamiki by not abandoning either of them when they needed her and it was even her suggestion not to tell on Rin for setting the seats on fire. It was the first time she realized that she wasnât afraid of his flames and later she pushed away her doubts to help renew Rinâs faith in himself. She told him that she wasnât afraid of him, that she was sorry and even hugged him to prove it. When his blue flames looked like it they were going to burn down the forest and everyone in it, she was the only one not worried about getting burn, showing just how much faith she has in Rin.
Shiemi is also the sort of person whoâs kind and compassionate towards anyone she meets. At least if she isnât afraid of them. She wants to look after them and do the best she can to help them or be friendly towards them. It doesnât just stop at people though, as Shiemi cares for plants and beings that may be a little troublesome. Also, she has no problem being stern if someone attempts to go without treatment. Or if two people are fighting with each other unreasonably she will stop them so they can stop yelling and start really talking.
Anyone who knows her will say thatâs sheâs very eager - eager to learn, to see new things, to try new things, to help out, to make friends and to grow stronger. She canât always see just how strong she already is though Kamiki recently compared her to a weed with how she keeps trying, keeps going. Her goal is to be strong like Yukio and Rin but there are times when sheâs stronger than either of them and just doesnât know it. The times when she shines the brightest someone always seems to take notice but to her itâs just another step to becoming stronger.
Thanks to her grandmotherâs influence Shiemi loves plants, knows how to take care of them. She even believes in the Amahara Garden where God had gathered all of the plants in the world. Her goal is to find it one day and while True Cross Academy had just been a stepping stone to learn more about the world, itâs actually something sheâs become dedicated to doing as well. At first she thought sheâd do well on the class involving plants but as it turns out, Shiemi gives them all cute little names. Sheâs been learning their official names but she still prefers the names sheâs given them. Thankfully for her, Nii-chan seems to know which plant she really means, even if she does ask for something with a different name.

She's aiming to be a Tamer which means she can summon a demon familiar. Hers is an infant Greenman which is exactly how it sounds. He's a small little green-colored human-shaped creature that she summons from a piece of paper and some of her blood. Shiemi named him Nii-chan and so far they've shown several abilities together such as creating barriers with wood, tree roots, plants to protect their friends or generating an aloe plant to use it to heal injuries. Recently Nii-chan was able to absorb the surrounding grass to grow larger than Shiemi but his new size is only temporary at the moment. Just recently Shiemi was able to summon him from her blood and sheer will, and he was able to grow an entire tree which means that she is getting stronger as a tamer.
Strengths
Plants: Ever since she can remember, Shiemi's life has been full of plants. Her granny grew a garden which her mother used the plants to run the Exorcist Shop. They are one of the main resources that provide various supplies to all types of exorcists, such as healing herbs or even flora ingredients that can be used as weapons against demons.
Healing: Because of her younger life, she knows what plants to use on various sorts of wounds. While she has no official training in healing Shiemi can act on the spot if necessary.
Rin-fireproof: Shiemi is one of those people who have a natural immunity to Rin's fire - not because she's anything special but because somewhere in the back of his mind and heart, he just doesn't want to hurt her.
Demon Vision: At some point in her life, she was hurt by a demon that makes her able to see them. It's difficult to say if it happened when she was just a child or if it didn't happen until she was a little older.
Inner Strength: One of her fellow Exwires once compared Shiemi to a weed, though they were really both thinking different things, it's true. She's a little stubborn thing who has a lot more inner strength than she realizes. There are moments of crippling self-doubt, sure but Shiemi has the ability to bounce back rather quickly.
Determination: This is something she has a lot of and always has. Her dream is to visit the amahara garden one day and Shiemi is determined to follow it. There might be bumps in the road that cause her to veer off-track but there have been points in her life where her own determination has helped others find theirs as well.

Weaknesses
Summoning: While she's really quite good at summoning Nii-chan, there is also a fatal flaw at just being and Exwire and that means she's still in training. Most of the time she depends on scraps of paper with a Magic Circle on it and some of her blood. If that paper is destroyed, or the magic circle broken - her summon will disappear. Another thing about summons: if the tamer is not strong or has wavering doubts the demon can turn on them.
Fighting: Unlike some of her fellow Exwires, Shiemi is not very good at fighting. Her defense is really rather good but offense is still something she has to work at though recently she did defeat an near-immortal zombie all by herself.
Physical: Her childhood consisted of staying at home because she was such a weak child. Even her schooling took place over long-distance. Due to this she doesn't have a lot of physical strength even in comparison to the weakest Exwire in her class.
Clumsy: This is most notable when she's nervous or upset, because Shiemi has a tendency to trip or spill something at these moments.
Cooking: Never, ever let her cook. While her meals might be extremely healthy and could even accidentally save their lives, it tastes like grass (it probably had some). She often forgets that things need to taste good and instead tries to put things in her creations that are supposed to help in some way - no matter what it makes it taste like as a whole. Though Shiemi does make excellent tea.
Self-Confidence: Shiemi doesn't think she's special or different from anyone else. In fact, there are times when she thinks that she isn't as good as someone else. Thinking this way can often lead to her not saying or doing the things she really wants. It has gotten better but things don't change overnight.
Shyness: It's a crippling shyness sometimes. When she was younger it prevented her from talking to a lot of people and while meeting Yukio and Rin has changed that, there are still times when it prevents her from speaking up.
Naivety: Really, these two things should be put under both strengths and weaknesses because they work under each category. The strength in Shiemi's naivety is that when people are pushing her aside, she doesn't always notice right away so she keeps at it until something of a true connection is formed. Of course, as a weakness it also means that people can take advantage of her.
Okumura Brothers: She really does look up to the brothers and they're everything she wishes she could be so Shiemi draws strength from their strength. They truly are her best friends and she'd fight alongside them any day. However, that also means they are a huge weakness in her life because she's hurt when they hide things from her, she's upset when they're fighting and she's sad when they're upset.

[For a moment there's nothing but a bit of silence on the line and a teen girl with blond hair staring at the phone, she fidgets nervously but then something goes Nii and she looks surprise. Next comes a bow, yes, to the phone.]
Ah, h-hello everyone. My name is Shiemi. I only just arrived but I'd like to help out where I can. I've managed to get some fruits and vegetable plants growing in both North and South towns and they're available to everyone to pick from. It's not enough to feed everyone all the time but I hope to get more growing. If anyone wants to help I've got plenty of seeds to get more plants growing.
[A tiny little green creature climbs onto her shoulder but doesn't stop there and starts climbing her hair.] If there's anyone who wants to learn how to garden I'd be willing to teach them. We could have some good gardens growing in here in no time. [Seeing as how they aren't sure how long they'll be stuck in here and all.] I've been trying to grow things indoors with winter coming and I'm making a collection of seeds that can be planted in the fields next spring.
Also, I can grow almost anything so if you have a request please let me know. I would also be willing to help anyone if they want to start a little garden in their own room. I'm growing one of my own that can all be used in medical treatment, which I am more than willing to share with the clinic in Southtown like I am with the one in Northtown.
[A short pause because she doesn't really know how to end this. It's not something she does. So one more bow out of nervousness and awkward.] Thank you for your time.

Everything burned. Not literally but her muscles protested as she sat up, though it was her left shoulder that screamed when tried to get it under her to support her wait. Thatâs right; she remembered hitting the floor hard after escaping from the zombieâs grasp. She shouldnât be on the floor now unless theyâd been hit and fell off of Kuroâs back â which was a possibility considering the Sidhe had jumped down to follow the massive lump of flesh. Looking around, she saw none of her teammates in the room with her but that didnât mean anything. They could have been separated again and now there could be more enemies on the way to deal with her. With her right hand, she reached for her belt and pulled out a scrap of paper from the pouch there.
The blood from her head wound had smeared and dried across her face but a slight push to the wound it had leaked from and she had the red liquid resting on her thumb. Once it was applied to the paper her tiny summon emerged with a small pop of smoke. He announced himself with a loud âNiiâ and proceeded to climb the paper until it could reach her blond hair. From there he moved to the top of her head just in case. Feeling better about the situation, Shiemi used her good arm to push herself to her feet.
With the view a little better than from the floor she could see her surrounding more clearly. This didnât look anything like the facility and instead looked more like an amusement park â an abandoned one. It didnât seem fair that her second visit to a place like this one meant she couldnât enjoy the rides or even take her time looking around. Maybe she would never get to come to a park and actually enjoy it without worrying about being attacked by zombies or ghosts. The thoughts are dismissed quickly and Shiemi put her focus into finding her teammates.
Honestly, she looked as if she belonged among the ruin and rust of the rides and booths. Her uniform was torn in a few spots, as were her thigh-high stockings. Most notable is the dried blood smudges down the left side of her face - though her left arm was hanging a little more limply than it should as Shiemi sped up until she was at a run. At this point, she doesnât dare call out for out for anyone just in case there was something unfriendly nearby. Shiemi could ask Nii-chan to grow a tree so she could see the area but when she spotted a ladder going up the side of the rollercoaster, the thought disappeared. It didnât look too rusted and there werenât a lot of rungs missing. This would have to do so that she could save her energy just in case she needed to use Nii-chanâs abilities.
Her ascent up the ladder is clear that sheâs favoring her left shoulder as time after time she reached up with her right arm to grab the next rung over her head. As Shiemi neared the top of the rollercoaster, she wrapped her right arm around the ladder and looked around in every direction. There were burn marks across the land which made her think of Rin. Maybe he had been through here with his blue flames and burned everything to the ground. Shiemi knew he had control but there might have been a choice. Of course, it was foolish to only think that it could have been Rin. For all she knew it could have just been a wild forest fire. Other than the fire, there was a town in the distance. Not Inari but it was a start â definitely better than wandering through the park. If her team was here, they might head over in that direction too. One look through over the park told her that there werenât any massive zombie forms â maybe some smaller ones because Shiemi could see people down there but they could also just be people. Satisfied that she wouldnât bring down the terrible near-immortal experiment on innocent people, she started back down the ladder.
âWe can make it to that town, Nii-chan. They might have a doctor or even a telephone so I can call Yuki-chan.â The small Greenman made a sound of approval.
